Billie was raised on the music of great soul singers – Sade, Anita baker, Chaka khan to name
a few. She soon began singing music inspired by these greats and their influence can be
observed in her smooth vocals.
Billie’s introduction to jazz began when she started singing with the National Youth Jazz
Orchestra (NYJO) she then went on to study jazz vocal at The Guildhall School of Music and
Drama – during her time at Guildhall her love for jazz (particularly songs from the Great
American songbook) began to fuse with her musical foundations in soul music and she
developed her unique style of singing.
Billie sings a selection of her favourite jazz standards sung by the likes of Billie Holiday, Ella
Fitzgerald and Chet Baker.
